Why We Need Your Help
With the help of the federal government, Island Elderly Housing (IEH) provides
quality affordable housing for the low income elderly and the disabled on
Martha's Vineyard. However, as our residents age in place, they require more
than the physical living quarters we provide. They require services so that
they can continue to live a full life. But the government subsidizes only the
housing of our friends, neighbors and colleagues. IEH provides the extra
services our residents need, but can do so only with your help.
Currently, we provide two popular services - community meals and mobility. Three times a week our residents sit down to enjoy dinner with fellow residents in one of our community rooms. Our residents can now ride our "Blueberry Van" to the doctor or the grocery store or to visit a friend three times a week.
The residents do pay a modest fee for these services, but the bulk of the cost is borne by IEH; we receive no funds from the government to provide these services. We need your help to continue.
How You Can Help
Your donation to Island Elderly Housing, Inc. (IEH)) will help to support the
IEH Community Dinners and the Blueberry Van for our Island elderly and disabled
family members.
$8 enables one of our residents to share in the conviviality and joy that mark a community dinner; $80 will enable ten of our residents to do so.
$5 is the cost of transporting a resident to a doctor's appointment or the grocery store; $50 pays for ten residents to board the Blueberry Van.
How many residents do you want to help? Each and every gift, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated.
Honoring and Remembering Loved Ones
Many people have found that making a donation to Island Elderly Housing is a
meaningful way to honor a cherished loved one, a friend or special occasion, or
to commemorate the life of a loved one. In the name of your loved one, you'll
make the life of one of our residents a little bit better.
If you wish, we would also be happy to send a special card noting your gift to
